Come join Aline Boundy and me
for a FREE Telesummit on Monday, April 1st.

In her own words, here’s a special invitation from my friend Aline:

The focus of this series of interviews is “Real Lives.” I’ll be asking our special guests about their life path and their career path. We’ll hear where they started in their careers, and follow the path they took to become clear about their life purpose.

But how does this relate to you? And how do you go about

Aligning With Your Purpose?

Since I began looking into what is for me the BIG QUESTION OF LIFE, I’ve come across many different perceptions and definitions of Life Purpose. There are those who believe we each have a unique purpose to fulfill in our lifetime, and that it is our duty to find it and follow it.

Others are happy to stick to a simpler concept and follow the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
However you understand Life Purpose is just fine, but what if you’re not sure? How do you tell what your purpose is, how do you know? This is probably the most common question I hear about the subject!

Here are Some Clues That You ARE Aligned With Your Purpose:

    • You jump out of bed in the mornings!
    • You love your job or your business, you feel valued and appreciated!
    • You are “in the flow”, full of joy that you are making a significant contribution to life!
    • You face life’s challenges with calm and equanimity.
    • You feel grateful for everything you have in your life.
    • You have a sense of personal fulfillment.
    • You feel a deep sense of spiritual connection with the universe.

If this does NOT describe how you feel about your life, then I invite you to join us as we journey along the path to:

 Align With Your Purpose.

Is Your Unconscious in the Driver’s Seat?

This past weekend I was leading a portion of the ITP (Integral Transformative Practice) Mastery program at City Aikido in San Francisco. I was talking about the power of affirmations, the theory and philosophy underlying this power, and in particular the two elements of consciousness and transformation.

There are many ways to define consciousness. However, for the purposes of the teaching it was best defined simply as awareness. If something is not conscious, it is unconscious, or un-aware. This definition fits very well for the work I do with ITP as well as with my individual clients, for much of what we are doing on the path of transformation is making the unconscious aspects of ourselves more conscious. Said another way, we are simply becoming aware of that which we were previously unaware.

It has been said that awareness is the first step in any spiritual transformation. Once you become aware of something, you can then begin to work with it. Until then, it’s just running the show without you. Carl Jung said “Until you make what’s unconscious conscious, it will run your life and you will call it destiny.” That’s powerful stuff!

In this week’s blog let’s take a closer look at this mysterious aspect of ourselves, our unconscious, and explore ways we can begin to work with it for our positive transformation.

Read on and enjoy!

“God can do for you, only what God can do through you.”

Michael Bernard Beckwith

If  God can only do for you, what God can do through you, what’s limiting God? Well, that’s right, you. But most often it’s a particular part of you: your un or subconscious. Therefore this “work” is most about getting yourself out of the way. This is your self with a small “s”. Life force energy, big “S” Self, wants to flow through you but we tend to block it up with resistance, dis-belief, and fears of all kinds, from large to small. Some of these are conscious, but many are unconscious.

It helps to look at these unconscious parts of ourselves as old commitments that we originally put in place to protect us, back when our mental, emotional, and spiritual capacities were not developed enough to be capable of withstanding some of the circumstances we were experiencing. Hence, we created automatic protection mechanisms to shield us from the pain. And they worked; they kept us alive and safe for the most part.

However, now that we are older, more mature, with much, much larger perspectives on the world, these childhood protection mechanisms typically create more pain than they prevent. We’ve simply outgrown them and it’s time to thank them and let them go. This is the essence of shadow work: discovering, acknowledging, embracing, integrating, and releasing old commitments and old thoughts about ourselves and the world, then creating new ones.

We could call these parts of ourselves Subconscious Limiting Beliefs (SLBs), or Previous Commitments Becoming Conscious (PCBC), because we typically made these decisions about the world and ourselves long ago in our lives. We then reinforced those beliefs over and over again, and kept our commitments with integrity, until they went subconscious and became just the way the world is (for us).

It’s important to note that a belief in and of itself is not limiting, it only becomes limiting when you are inspired to grow beyond it. So you are, on the one hand, inspired to a greater vision of yourself, but on the other you are limited by old beliefs, habits, and patterns. As you might imagine this can be a frustrating and conflicting place to be. But on your Hero’s Path, your path of evolution, this will be a common experience. However, over time, it’s an experience that you’ll eventually be able to powerfully navigate with grace and ease.

There is no one and no thing to transform but yourself.

What we are up to here is no less than the transformation of ourselves from victim to creator. We are freeing ourselves in all areas of our life, even from our own subconscious.  It is a huge shift.  Access to the world of the creator is through evolving yourself. Evolving yourself means clarifying a vision for your life, then watching yourself very carefully as you step into that vision.

Your unconscious beliefs (and limitations) will make themselves known through your behaviors. You have an opportunity and a moment of choice each time you see yourself doing something out of alignment with your vision. In that moment you are conscious, and in that moment you can make a more authentic choice for your behavior. One that is more aligned with the new vision of your Self.

Taking this moment of choice opportunity over and over again is the path of transformation. This leads you to the next and newest you – the one you desire to become!

To step into the next and newest you I invite you to engage The Major Good Mojo System.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

To get a sense of how much your unconscious may be limiting you, and limiting what God can do for you, ask yourself the following questions:

  • How free am I? In all areas of my life.
  • How joyful am I?
  • How loving am I?
  • How much love do I experience each day?
  • How peaceful am I in my life?
  • How present, in each moment, am I?
  • How much awe and beauty do I experience each day?
  • Am I fulfilling the highest vision of my life?

Your transformational opportunity is to become that stillpoint at the center of all creation, with complete and total freedom to move in any truly authentic and Source-inspired direction. When you are fully connected to this aspect of yourself, with no intervening unconscious beliefs, naturally flowing through you will be deep levels of joy, peace, presence, and the needed power to fulfill your highest and most authentic life path.

Get your unconscious out of the driver’s seat!

Congratulations – you’re one step closer to Major Good Mojo!

Your Biggest Fear is Not What You Think

Not every day is blue sky and sunshine.  Clouds move in, sometimes really dark ones.  Life is dynamic and we’re all in practice.  Are you afraid of dark clouds?  Do you pretend they’re not there?  Do you look away?  Do you go out of your way to avoid them – maybe staying inside, closing all the doors and windows, and turning on all the lights?  Life is to be lived, not avoided, and lived well you will engage some dark clouds.

I once had the feeling my life was like a big jet liner slowly losing altitude on a crash course with the mountains. There I was on this jet that was “going down” and I was doing all I could to relax, to feel good, to go with the flow, to release, etc. I was doing everything I knew to transform my experience, I knew all the tricks in the book, but nothing was working. The jet was on a crash course and there was nothing I could do about it.

What was I really afraid of? What was I trying to avoid?

In this blog we’ll explore how what we think we are afraid of really isn’t what we are afraid of.  It’s something else.

Read on and enjoy!

Your Biggest Fear is Not What You Think

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”  Marcus Aurelius

It was a terrifying feeling, that my life was a jet liner on a crash course deep in the mountains. It was made worse by the fact I am supposed to be an inspiring teacher with my life “all together.” However, as this jet was dropping, I realized I am not the teacher that denies life can be difficult and pretends that challenging moments and times don’t exist. What I do teach is allowing and trusting, being there and being present. Being strong in your weakest moments by being weak, by being scared, by not knowing, and by just allowing.

Striving to escape the terrifying experience and feelings of impending doom is just old fear-based need for control. When we are afraid, we hate it, so we try to escape by gaining control.  The fact we are afraid is a RED FLAG indicating an opportunity for transformation. The extent to which you can ALLOW and BE WITH the fear in the challenging times of your life is the extent to which you will powerfully move through these times. In a paradoxical kind of way, this is being weak in a powerful way.

If you are up to creating anything in your life that is truly challenging, for example your true life’s purpose and mission, you will face ups AND downs. There will be numerous challenges and some dark clouds on the path. Your ability to ALLOW and BE WITH yourself in the midst of these challenges, or down times, just may be THE most important and powerful life skill you can develop.

Here’s the key:  It’s not the “thing out there” you are afraid of, you are actually afraid of YOUR RESPONSE TO THAT THING.  This is important. You are afraid that you won’t be able to handle YOUR EXPERIENCE of that thing happening. The good news is that while you may not have control over what happens “out there” to you, YOU DEFINITELY HAVE CONTROL OVER YOUR RESPONSE AND HOW YOU EXPERIENCE IT.

The bottom line is: You will have times of weakness and fear, but don’t let them have YOU.  Empower yourself and instead of fighting, resisting, or avoiding, choose to let them TOTALLY HAVE YOU. Choose to let them pass on through.  It’s still scary, it’s still challenging, you will still want to escape it and change it, but there is a part of you that lives on a higher plane of awareness (especially after having read this!), that knows “this too shall pass.” The river of life is always flowing, the scenery constantly changing, whether you’re paddling or not! It’s a practice that gets easier each time; you become aware of those challenging moments of fear, and you can recognize and allow them.

And guess what? Somehow the jet magically got fixed, right in mid air.  I took my seat in first class, knowing with confidence once again that all was well and I was right on course.

As human beings we love the excitement of varied and challenging experiences; few of us would be satisfied with a boring, simple life that involves none of the pain involved in growing. We may think that what we want is to avoid challenges, pain, and suffering, but what we actually want is the POWER TO BE WITH whatever may come, including great challenge, pain, and suffering.

Take a look for yourself right now. What do you REALLY want—no pain, suffering, or challenge? Or the power to be with whatever may come? Connect with your heart and look deeply. Which position resonates as the more powerful place to be? What resonates as a life well lived? What resonates more as the truth of the path rather than a hopeful fantasy?

I think if you allow yourself to look deeply, what you’ll discover is that what we want is to be the container within which these experiences can be held, to be big enough to allow and experience them, without shrinking away. The larger opportunity – and dare I say it, the reality of the path – is to embrace and allow, so that when they do show up (and they will), you can have the experience, rather than it having you. This is true freedom, and with true freedom comes true power.

To build your muscles to be with ALL the feelings and experiences of your life, no matter what, I invite you to engage The Major Good Mojo System.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Look into your life and make a list of the things you are afraid of.  You can look at anything you may be putting off or procrastinating doing. These are signs of fear lurking in the background.  Why are you putting off this something?  What are you afraid of?  Make your list.

Once you have your list, look at each item and ask yourself “Am I really afraid of this bad thing happening?  Or am I more afraid that I can’t and won’t be able to handle it if it does happen?  If I knew that I could handle this bad thing if it happened, would that decrease my fear of it happening?

Notice what you notice.

Congratulations – you’re one step closer to Major Good Mojo!

Time to Get Into the Kingdom

This past Monday I played Golf in the Kingdom. The picture above is PGA Champions Tour players Bobbie Clampett (in purple) and Steve Pate (in orange) leading an Impact Zone golf clinic prior to our hitting the links. This was the second annual fund raiser for Integral Transformative Practice International (ITPI). ITPI is the organization stewarding and bringing alive the work that Michael Murphy and George Leonard put forth in their book The Life We Are Given.

ITP is cross training for the body, mind, heart, and soul. It is a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual practice. ITP is unique in the world since many practices usually only develop one, or maybe two of those. ITP is truly integral.

I have been practicing ITP for more than 8 years now, am a Senior Teacher of the practice, and it is a cornerstone of my daily life. One of the biggest benefits I receive from my ITP practice is a strengthened connection with my deepest self, the Source of my life, of Life itself. If you’re not deeply connected to this aspect of yourself, you’re like a ship without a rudder getting tossed about on the sea of life.

This is what Golf in the Kingdom is all about: playing golf as much in the metaphysical world as in the physical world. One could say it’s the “inner game” of golf – but it’s much, much more than that.

When I wrote my book NexGen Human there was one MAJOR message I wanted to get out to the world. I knew as a human race we needed to develop a new skill to successfully navigate the nature of our time. We need to do a lot more than golf in the Kingdom, we need to live in the Kingdom. In this blog we’ll explore further just what that means.

Read on and enjoy!

Time to get into the Kingdom

As a global society we are well into a major transition as the industrial age gives way to the information age. This transition involves a major change in both our strengths and our values as the emphasis shifts from the tangible to the intangible. Our sense of value in the information age is based more on what we know than on what we have. We are moving out of an industrial-physical-tangible focus and into an information-nonphysical-intangible focus. As we make this transition, the need for a new skill is emerging.

Historically, certain advanced and trailblazing human beings have accessed and developed this crucial skill. So, in one sense, this is not a new development. However, for the grand majority of us, it is absolutely new. The early pioneers came from all parts of the world and from many different disciplines; they were some of the most influential and satisfied human beings to ever live. We are able to study them, celebrate their successes, and stand on their shoulders.

We are part of the evolution; what was once impossible or undreamed of becomes possible, real, and ever more available to those of us who follow the path blazed by these pioneers. Climbing Mt. Everest was once out of the question, just as visiting the moon was humanly impossible. Even ice cream, automobiles, and electricity were once luxuries available to only a privileged few, and yet they are now widely available to all. In the same manner, this critical new skill is becoming available to more and more people, including you, if you choose it. Evolutionary energy and intelligence itself is on the move—in, around, and through you and me.

So what is this critical skill? It is the ability to consciously and consistently partner with the power of the Universe. It’s time for us, both collectively and individually, to develop the skill of joining forces with the Ultimate, most valuable, intangible element in our Universe – the intelligent energy of the Universe itself.

This is a skill you can learn, and develop, to bring the power
of this amazing Universal Intelligence alive in your life.

Fundamentally what this means is to shift our idea and experience of God, Universal Intelligence, Great Spirit, Source, from an external concept, to an internal reality. No longer is God something outside of us whose existence we must take on the word of others and just have faith and believe in. It’s a little like someone describing to you their experience of falling in love – you don’t feel it. You must experience it for yourself to truly get it. In the same way, the old way of relating to God was one step removed. When you don’t have the direct experience of God the relationship must be based on faith and belief. You need direct experience of Greater Power.

Universal Life Force is already in you and is always available, but it’s up to you to heed the call and maximize your partnership with this force, this intelligence, this energy.

Using new words to describe this energy,
this experience, this “entity,” is part of our evolution.

Note that I am deliberately using multiple words to point to this thing we have historically called “God.” God, as a word, is a good word, however it has picked up a lot of baggage over the years. It has many meanings and forms, and you never know how someone will interpret it. Using new words to describe this energy, this experience, this “entity,” is part of our evolution. NexGen Humans evolve beyond these limitations by connecting personally and directly with Source. In this manner they become free of preconceived notions and open up to the actual experience, beyond all words, thoughts, and concepts.

Now while grace is forever and always available to everyone (the Kingdom of Heaven is within), it tends to favor those looking for it. As one spiritual teacher of mine put it “Roger, if you want your spiritual cup filled, you have to turn it upright and hold it out.” This is the nature and power of practice; it’s a conscious and intentional turning of our cups upright and holding them out. You can’t force or make grace happen, but you can prepare and make yourself more “grace prone.”

If you are interested in learning how to make yourself more “grace prone” I invite you to engage The Major Good Mojo System.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Reflect on the following questions:

  • What’s your current relationship with God, Universal Intelligence, Great Spirit, Source? How strong is it, how clear is it, how free and empowered are you in that relationship?
  • Is there an opportunity for you to strengthen this relationship?
  • To what extent do you allow peer pressure and/or fear of change keep you from growing and exploring more of who and what you are?

Just asking yourself these questions and listening to your answers is a courageous act of evolution that will move you closer to Major Good Mojo!

YOUnique: Honoring Your Reality – and Everyone Else’s!

Maya Tulum Beach

How are you different from every other human being on this planet? While it is true we’re all here sharing the experience of being human, and that gives us commonality, we are each totally unique beings having our own unique experience of life.

Think about it. You can see this truth in the simplest of things. Some people love the beach while others love the mountains. Some people love Chinese food, while others hate it. Some people love modern art; others hate it. Some people like trucks while others prefer sports cars. We are all having our own unique experience in life – leading to things we like and don’t like, that we think are good or bad – sourced out of the totally unique entity we each are.

How is it that you determine what’s true for you? Have you ever thought about that? Why do you prefer the beach or the mountains?  Why do you love or hate Chinese food? Why do you love or hate modern art? Why do you prefer trucks or sports cars? Or why do you not care about any of these things at all? How do you know these things? Where does that knowledge come from?

In this issue of Major Good Mojo we illuminate the power of your unique truth, how it is determined, and how important it is. Knowing and embracing your truth is a major outcome of the Major Good Mojo System.

Read on and enjoy!

One of the most powerful stories I was ever told, and one which helped me embrace my unique truth and experience in life, I call “The Analogy of The Tongue.” I know that may sound a little gross, but it is memorable.

Years ago a good friend of mine saw that I was struggling to really embrace who I was as a minister, an evolutionary advocate, and a spiritual conduit. I didn’t really know what was evolving through me at that time. In the model in which I had grown up, and the life I was living at that time, it didn’t make any sense. I didn’t have any context or precedence for it.

So he said this to me:

He asked me to name a food I do not like. I told him eggplant. He said, “OK, why do you not like eggplant?” I said “Because it’s gushy, mushy, usually gray in color, and has a paste-like taste to it. There is nothing about it for me to like.” He said “Great. Now, what if I told you everybody else is eating it, would you then eat it?” I said, “A lot of other people do like and eat it, and I still do not eat it. Therefore, no.” He said “OK, great.

Now, what if I told you you should eat it, because it’s good for you and it’s the right thing to do. Then would you eat it? Might you like it then?” I said, “No, I don’t care what you say about it, I know I don’t like it and don’t want to eat it.” He said, “Good.”

He went on to say “Now, is this something you would purchase, prepare, and serve dinner guests?” And I said “No way. I would not serve them something I myself do not like. In fact, I wouldn’t even know if it was good or not anyhow. So, no, I would not serve it to guests at my house for dinner.” Then he said, “Is there anything I or anyone could do to make you like and eat eggplant?” I said “No, I just don’t like it.”

He said “Great. Your purpose in life, and all things in life, is just like this. It’s that simple.” And he was, and is, so right. Your purpose is innate in you, as are your preferences for food. You like some things and you don’t like other things. You won’t try to like and eat eggplant because everyone else does, or because someone tells you you should, or because someone else asks for it.

So don’t try to force yourself into SOMEONE ELSE’S TRUTH! Eat and serve others what you know and like – YOUR truth. Anything else is a disservice to yourself and others. It’s not authentic!

You have a tongue, or a taste, for everything that is true for you. And this includes God. How do you know what God is for you? How do you know which religion or path or philosophy is “the truth?” You know because you test it against your own internal “truth meter.” You are always automatically asking yourself “Does this seem true to me? Does this feel right to me? Do I like this? Do I want more of this?” We do this with everything – and so does everybody else. This is how we find our truth – including the truth for us when it comes to God.

If each person has his or her own truth about life and the world, their own unique experience, then there really is no truth – EXCEPT – and this is really important – EXCEPT what’s true FOR YOU. Truth is a personal thing. Truth is created by you, for you. No one can tell you what’s true for you. And vice versa – you cannot tell others what’s true for them. Although, of course, lots of people try.

It’s important to realize that your truth ultimately comes from within you, not from some source outside. And, just as importantly, realize this is true for everyone else too. Just because something makes complete and total sense for you, doesn’t mean it makes complete and total sense for everyone else, or anyone else for that matter. Just like you, everyone has their own unique experience and perspective of the world. And just like you, they believe what they believe, and they like what they like, and don’t like what they don’t like, because that’s what is true FOR THEM.

We live in a community of many levels: from the family; to the neighborhood; to the town; to the city; to the state; to the nation; to the planet. We all have a role in the functioning of the community, at one or many levels, and it’s essential we each play our authentic, inspired role, and that we each know, own, and share our unique truth. At the same time, we must allow others to play their role, and own, and share their unique truth. Whatever that may be and however that may look.

To further empower and live your own unique truth I invite you to engage the The Major Good Mojo Coaching System.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Take a moment to reflect on what’s true for you and how it’s absolutely unique for you. Think about how this is true for everyone else on the planet. Ask yourself “Do I honor my truth and determine it for myself? Or do I bow to external authority and tend to believe what others say is true?” Are there opportunities or areas where you can more greatly empower YOUR truth?

And just as important, ask yourself “Do I allow and honor the unique truth that others have? Or do I more often try to impose my reality and truth on them?” Are there areas where you could more greatly honor and respect the unique truth of others as THEIR truth?

If you can really get this, you will be free – free to fully be yourself, and free to allow others to be fully themselves.

Congratulations – you are one step closer to Major Good Mojo!

Hell Is Other People – Or Is It?

Friends at Esalen

This picture was taken at The Esalen Institute during an ITP (Integral Transformative Practice) Mastery Program Retreat. I always have a smile on my face when I’m at Esalen. Beauty, peace, and joy are so easily experienced there. It’s like Heaven On Earth, especially when you’re there with kindred spirits.

This past weekend I was with Dr. John Gray at his Mars/Venus Soul Mate Seminar. What a great program – I highly recommend it. He offered many profound and helpful ideas, when it comes to finding your soul mate. Here is one of his ideas that struck me: He suggested that you ask yourself, “Do you like who you are when you’re in their presence?” If your answer is “yes, most of the time,” that’s a good sign. If “no,” then you might want to reconsider the relationship. You can apply this to any relationship, group, or community. Do you like who you are when you are with them?

Have you ever heard the statement “Hell is other people”? I really laughed when I first heard that because of course there is some truth to it. However, the opposite is just as true or even truer: “Heaven is other people.” The key is: WHAT people? And to a very large extent, this is up to you. Of the seven billion or so people now living on Planet Earth, you get to choose the ones you are going to spend time with. Isn’t that amazing?

In this issue of Major Good Mojo we take a closer look at this very important element for your personal power and fulfillment: finding kindred spirits on your path. This is Step 10 of the Major Good Mojo System: “Connect with a Loving, Supportive, Inspiring Community.”

Read on and enjoy!

Hell is Other People – Or is it?

Step 10 of The Major Good Mojo System is: Connect with a loving, supportive, inspiring community.  As the old saying goes, no man is an island. To live a truly fulfilling life we need others. This is especially true when beginning to step out into new ways of living for the first time. You need a group of supportive people who can love and support you.  Who see and believe in the best for you. Who know who you really are and what you are hoping to achieve. The reason we are not alone on this planet is because we need each other. The key is to find your tribe, to find YOUR people. This is not always an easy thing to do.

I remember I was working with a professional life coach in the late 90s and he kept repeating to me, “Roger, you gotta get out there and meet your people.” I was sharing all this stuff with him about consciousness and living a creative life, and pouring my passions out to him in our sessions. He kept prodding me to get out there, to find those places where I and my ideas would be welcomed. I finally took his advice and found several communities where this was true. It made all the difference in the world to be with people who could understand me, who would support and encourage me, and even challenge me to get better, clearer, or more committed.

You know you’ve found your community, your people, or your tribe when you are accepted for who you are, you naturally fit in, and it’s easy for you to be yourself, say what you are thinking and feeling, and grow in the relationship.

One very interesting element of community is that “who we are with others, is not who we are when alone.” Think about it. Who you are, the thoughts you are having, the things you say, the things you do, are different depending on who is with you. This is a very interesting characteristic of relationships. We’ve all been around people who make us feel good or who inspire us. And on the other hand, we’ve all been around people who depress us and suck the energy out of us. Clearly, we are affected by the people with whom we are interacting.

In the spring 1996 issue of “The Noetic Sciences Review,” Margaret Wheatley (Organizational Consultant and author of Leadership and the New Science: Learning About Organization from an Orderly Universe) wrote an article about the hidden intelligence orchestrating and organizing all things in the Universe. In this article one of the things she pointed out was: who we are when we’re with others, or who we are in community, is different than who we are when we’re alone.

Margaret reveals the seldom realized and amazing fact that you cannot understand the power of an individual by assessing or understanding who they are when alone. You have to look at them when in community and in relationship with others! However, she pointed out, “none of the personality assessors or indicators (e.g. Myers-Briggs) let us know who or what we are capable of being when we are in community with one another.”

As your mission becomes clearer and your confidence in who you are becomes greater and greater, your ability to identify, attract, and engage people on your path gets stronger and stronger. On the flip side, your ability to know who and what is NOT on your path gets stronger and stronger as well. And eventually, what comes along with this knowledge is your ability to say NO to who and what is not on your path. The funny thing is, people and opportunities NOT on your path will likely keep showing up, especially in the early stages of engaging your mission. These become opportunities for you to continue embracing who and what you are, by saying NO to who and what is not on your path. (Side note:  these people actually ARE on your path, however they are there for you to say and strengthen your “no”).

Eventually you get to a point in life where it’s about living your mission and making your contribution to the world. This is what becomes most important. If someone does not support, or is not aligned with this highest purpose and vision for your life, then it serves no one (including them!) to spend your time and energy with them. Having this kind of capacity requires that you are very clear on your own authentic life path and mission (achieved through Steps 5 and 6 of The Major Good Mojo System: Get connected to your Purpose and Passions). When you have clarity on this, it becomes a lot easier to say YES and NO to best facilitate your service and gifts into the world.

Connecting with loving, inspiring, and supportive people, groups, and communities is an essential element for living a truly fulfilling life. To bring this alive in your life I invite you to engage the The Major Good Mojo Coaching System.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Reflect on the following questions:

-       Who in your life right now does NOT support the highest vision of yourself? Who do you NOT feel empowered and good in the presence of? List these people, groups, and communities. Decide right now to give less of your time, attention, and energy to these people on your path that are not serving you (nor is it serving them!).

-       Who in your life right now DOES support the highest vision of yourself? Who do you feel empowered and good in the presence of? List these people, groups, and communities. Decide right now to give MORE of your time, attention, and energy to these people on your path that ARE serving and supporting the highest vision of yourself.

Congratulations – you are one step closer to Major Good Mojo!

How to be a Star in the School of Life: Give Up the Blame Game

This picture was taken on the starting tee of the ITPI Kingdom of Golf Marathon Fund Raiser in San Rafael California. ITPI stands for Integral Transformative Practice International, a very powerful practice for integration of body, mind, heart, and soul, created by George Leonard and Michael Murphy. In the picture, Michael is in the middle wearing the Giants hat. Besides creating ITP, he is co-founder of Esalen, the west coast center for human potential, and author of the book and now movie “Golf in the Kingdom.” (Click here to see the amazing movie trailer).

Being one of the top fund-raisers, I was blessed with the opportunity to play in the foursome with Bobby Clampett, PGA Champions Tour Player, pro golf instructor, and NBC announcer. Can you guess which one he is? That’s right, the one in black and red who most looks like the pro golfer. He is actually wearing knickers and he also won the prize for best dressed.

As we played each hole, Bobby had lots of interesting things to say when it came to playing great golf. One of the most memorable for me was, “The best students and players never complain about why their ball didn’t go where they wanted it to. They never blame it on the wind, the grass being too wet, the sun in their eyes, or any of those things. Rather, they take full responsibility for each shot, knowing it didn’t go where they wanted it to go because they didn’t hit it there! The best students know it’s all up to them, and they LEARN from each shot so each one gets better and better.”

Today is 11-11-11 representing a powerful doorway to new levels of consciousness. Perhaps today is the day you embrace new levels of response-ability in your life. Perhaps today is the day you move into a new level of consciousness and power and truly own your life, your experiences, and all aspects of it. Today, 11-11-11, just may be that day.

In this blog we’ll explore more deeply how to be a star in the school of life. The answer, simple, elegant, and powerful, is one of the three Power Principles in my Major Good Mojo System, and one of the very first things my clients engage when embarking on their journey.

Read on and enjoy!

How to be a Star in the School of Life: Give Up the Blame Game

For the duration of the Major Good Mojo Program, my clients agree to follow, live by, and live into three important Power Principles. These are principles of living discovered through years of trial and error I’ve found essential to creating a life of Major Good Mojo. The third Power Principle, and the key to becoming a star in the school of life, is to take full responsibility for your results and experience in life. This is so important that I wrote a whole chapter about it in my book, NexGen Human, Chapter 4, “The Great Transformation.”

The blame game and playing victim is so common and prevalent in our society today; everyone wants to blame someone or something else for their apparent woes and problems. It’s so easy to do and we’ve all done it. The problem with this approach is that it never leads to solutions or resolutions of the issue. What it does is make powerless the person doing the blaming and playing the victim. By definition, blaming others and playing the victim absolves you of any responsibility, and thereby also removes your “response-ability.” You cannot respond, you can only blame and be a victim and perpetuate that vicious cycle of perpetrator and victim. The key is to wake-up and take back your response-ability and instead choose to move your life in directions you really desire.

Frankly, part of the awakening here is simply growing up and becoming an adult in those areas of our lives where we are still children. You see, when we were children we actually WERE victims, so it’s not that this story we believed was never true. The way we experienced the world was the way we experienced the world. It was true at one point in our life and we got very pissed-off about that. However, I’m sure you can see it was from a very limited view of the world.

When you are 6, 7, or 8 years old, you haven’t seen much of the world, nor have you interacted with very many of the people in it. You only knew what you were exposed to and that was it. However, over the years, as we develop adult competencies, distinctions, and capacities, we become far more able to take responsibility for our lives. We develop a far larger context inside of which our life is happening. And eventually the opportunity arrives when we can actually choose to be responsible about how we are reacting to our hurts, our trials and tribulations as a child. We can choose in this moment, as an adult, how we are going to relate to and perceive those incidences in our lives that hurt us.

At more advanced levels of this competency (being responsible for everything you experience in your life), deeper and more subtle stories of playing victim come to light. For example, people love to blame the government, the economy, the weather, their spouse, their kids, their finances, their health, and on, and on, and on! In all of these circumstances there is choice. Choice to be responsible for your life and the events in it, or the choice to be a victim and not responsible for the events in your life.

Again, this doesn’t mean bad things don’t happen, or that people and things aren’t out there making your life challenging. What it does mean is you don’t blame them and play victim to them. Instead, you acknowledge the challenges you have, recognize they are part of YOUR experience in YOUR life, and choose instead to take some creative, proactive actions that will move you and your life forward.

Taking full responsibility for your results and experience in life is a key piece of the Major Good Mojo System. To take this skill to new levels and become a star in the school of life, I invite you to engage the The Major Good Mojo Coaching Program.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Consider carefully the following questions. Your answers may grant you immense power and freedom:

-          Are there areas in your life where you can stop being a victim and become more response-able? What and where might these areas be?

-          Are there people in your life you can benefit from forgiving? Who might they be?

-          How much pain and suffering have you created from being a victim or holding a grudge in your life? Think how great it would feel FOR YOU to let that go.

If you were to focus on one of the areas above and become less of a victim and more like a responsible creator, what might that look like? What would be your first step or action? Take it, and take your life into new levels of freedom, power, consciousness, and Major Good Mojo!

Soul Filled Living – The True Source of Satisfaction and Fulfillment

As part of my ongoing exploration and development, a couple weeks ago I was at a cmonference where the featured speaker was Esalen Co-founder Michael Murphy. This picture is me with Michael at the conference.  Michael is a modern day pioneer in the exploration of human potential and this Universe we live in.  A real inspiration!  The  conference was “Integral Transformative Practice and the Evolution of the Soul.”  Michael led the group on an exploration of how the soul may be evolving through lifetimes and is an essential element in the evolution of the Universe itself.  The inquiry and question we were exploring was “How can we partner with our soul and become ACTIVE participants in both our individual and collective evolution?”

I am keenly interested in this aspect of “the evolution of the soul” and specifically how it relates to OUR evolution as a human being (as a body, mind, heart, AND soul) right here, right now. From the Webster’s Dictionary, the definition of evolution is:  an unfolding; a process of development or change; a movement that is part of a series.  Yes, this makes sense.  An unfolding, a process of development or change, a movement that is part of a series.  One could say that evolution is the process of the unfolding of the soul into and through the world.  So how is the unfolding of your soul going?  I think that’s a pretty important question.

I’m plugged into a lot of “transformational” work, processes, and people. It’s MY passion, so I engage and follow these things.  Typically, marketing messages are  targeted at one of a few things; weight loss, more money, or better relationships.  At business training seminars we’re told these are the top things people are looking for and that if you want to sell your stuff, we must target our messages at one or more of these things.  That may be true, but for me, these things are not the end in themselves and doing that (selling those results) only adds to the problem.  It further feeds the false belief that “if I just had XYZ THEN I would be happy” (more money, less weight, better relationships).  Well, maybe for a moment, but not for long.

In my experience, lasting happiness (joy) and true fulfillment can only come from your soul. This is living from the inside-out.  You START with what your soul wants – this is your personal inside guide to your ideal life – your compass for navigating the terrain of YOUR life and living the life that is most fulfilling for YOU. Trying to lose weight, get more money, or have better relationships – as great as those things are – is living from “the outside in.”  This means trying to fill an emptiness inside with something in the “outside” world.  It will feel good for a moment, then you’ll be on to the next thing, and the next thing, and the next… never experiencing the satisfaction you really desire.

I recently tweeted a quote by Robert Collier “Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.” The key is to focus your efforts toward the success that you REALLY wish to create and experience – your SOUL’S desires.  Until you tap into THAT place of desire, you’re like a hamster on a treadmill going from one thing to the next, never satisfied.  Until you are tapped into your soul’s desires, you’ll be grasping at straws like losing weight, getting more money, or having better relationships. If you’re ready to discover your soul’s desires and live a truly fulfilling life from that deep place, I recommend engaging The Major Good Mojo System.

So how do we know what our soul wants for us?  How can we live that  deeply satisfying Soul Filled Life? Well, there are many aspects to it, but in this short article I’ll share one of the most important:  follow your bliss.  This is the guidance we have often heard from author and teacher Joseph Campbell. Unfortunately, it is rarely appreciated or truly lived.

One of the keys to knowing what your soul wants for you in this lifetime is to pay attention to and engage things that you enjoy! This may not be easy at first, as many of us have gotten very good at “working hard and suffering to survive and feel deserving.” However, we can begin choosing activities that provide the greatest likelihood or probability that the experience it offers (the people, the places, the conversations and words you use, the ideas, the actions, the impact and results in the world, the overall environment you are in, and as well as both the present and possible monetary rewards, etc.) will have at least SOME enjoyable aspect(s). As you do this, if you practice this time and time again, the fullness of your bliss will unfold over your lifetime like a beautiful flower coming into its own.

I want to further emphasize and support this notion of “following your bliss” and engaging activities where you experience the most joy. Joy is life-force filled. And what people want most on this planet (including yourself) is life-force. The more you embody and become a channel for life-force energy, the more you become of SERVICE to others – you are giving them what they most want and need.

This is the key to success. Becoming a channel for, and access to, what people want most:  life-force energy. The most powerful way to do that is to follow your very own bliss. Isn’t that divine?! And here’s another reason to follow your bliss – when you do, you become more and more unstoppable. Another word for Joy, and for Bliss, is Inspiration. When you are inspired you are connected to the divine flow and intelligence of the Universe. Your personal energy is optimized, solutions and ideas come to you “from beyond” and your overall experience is amazing. When you are inspired, you have “spirit inside” – and when you have spirit inside you bring spirit and life-force energy to others.

This is operating from your soul – this is Soul-Filled Living. The person who operates from the soul and allows their truth to flow through them is inspired in the deepest sense. Such a man or woman is a rare and treasured gift for all of us. When an artist is touched by Spirit and creates something from that authentic place, we are all touched. It’s like looking at something here in the physical world that came from and represents the beauty, mystery, and magic of the metaphysical world.

Wherever there is success AND joy, there is inspiration. You can have success with no joy or inspiration, but you cannot have joy without success because joy in and of itself is success! So are you going for the success “hoping for the joy” or are you going for the joy hoping for the success? If success in a material sense is important to you, I suggest doing both. Follow your bliss with a plan for manifesting material success.

Manifesting your soul’s desire is a long term partnership with Spirit that unfolds over time. You are the instrument that Universal Life Force Intelligence is playing. Mother Theresa said it this way:  “We are all pencils in the hand of God writing love letters to the Universe.” What is your love letter to the Universe? What does God want to write with you and your life? Only YOU know the answer.

PS:  The Passion Test ™ is one of the best ways to get clear on your passions, your bliss, and what it is you love. As a Certified Passion Test Facilitator I’ve included The Passion Test in The Major Good Mojo System, click here to find out more!

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

Look back over all the experiences in your life and see if you can identify your “Theme of Joy” – the common thread through all those experiences that attracted you to them in the first place. What is the common “Thread of Joy” that you loved about each of those roles and experiences in your life?  These are HUGE clues to your soul’s purpose and desires for you in this lifetime.

Congratulations!  You’re one step closer to tapping into your soul’s desires, following your bliss, and experiencing the true joy and satisfaction you desire. Now that is Major Good Mojo!

Mother is Missing You!

This is a picture of me celebrating my birthday with my Mother! I know it doesn’t look like it, but hold on just one second.  I love my birth mother – she’s an angel on earth, but this is the Mother of all of us – Mother Earth!

Yesterday I took the day off and celebrated my birthday doing things I love – my ITP Kata at sunrise, hiking the Falls Trail in California’s Mount Diablo State Park (practically in my back yard), eating amazing sushi, and writing this blog.

My hike was very special – I made it a sacred journey by bringing my full attention (best I could) into every moment. Whenever I would think about the future, or something I had to do, as soon as I noticed I was doing that, I let it go and brought my attention back to the amazing world I was in.

I also gave myself permission to do some things I wouldn’t normally do: I gave a big oak tree a full body hug for about 5 minutes (yes, it hugged me back!); I laid in a beautiful meadow looking up at the perfectly blue sky listening to the wind, birds, and bees buzzing around; I sat on a rock outcropping Indian-style and meditated for 15 minutes; I walked very slowly and quietly for periods of time while activating all my senses; and I practiced Earthing.  Earthing?  Yes, Earthing.  Maybe you’ve heard of it.  I found a nice stream next to a small waterfall, took off my shoes and socks, and set my feet down into the sandy bottom, and for more than 30 minutes I connected myself – my entire energy field – directly into the HUGE energy field of Mother Earth herself.

Over the years I have heard a great deal about the benefits of connecting directly barefooted with the earth, and even practiced a bit of it. On retreat with John Gray (Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus) at his hilltop ranch in Mendocino California he talked a fair amount about it.  In the instructions for my Egyptian Healing Rods they suggest while using them you place your bare feet on the earth.  And guidelines for Sun Gazing also recommend connecting to the earth barefooted while practicing the method.  Now, a whole book on it (shown in the picture above and available on Amazon.com) recently came out called Earthing – The Most Important Health Discovery Ever? by Clinton Ober, Stephen Sinatra, and Martin Zucker.

Here’s the thing:  in our modern world and lifestyle WE ARE INSULATED FROM THE EARTH! And it’s only relatively recently in our human history that this has been the case.  We are now coming to realize the detrimental effects of this insulation and disconnection from our Mother herself. There are many ways we can connect with the Earth and Nature – just going on a walk outside can transform you!  Connecting with the Earth is one of the steps in my “10-Step Major Good Mojo System – it’s part of Step 9:  “Feel good in your body – look after it!”

Next Sunday, May 9th is the American celebration of Mother’s Day and we honor and celebrate givers of life, including the ultimate mother, Mother Earth! It’s a whole new twist on Mother’s Day!

“We live on a planet alive with natural energies.  Its surface teems with subtly pulsating frequencies, a phenomenon unknown to most people. Who regards the sand, grass, sidewalk, or dirt beneath their feet as an energy field?  But that indeed is what the ground is and always has been.

“Put another way, your planet is a six sextillion (that’s a six followed by twenty-one zeroes) metric ton battery that is continually being replenished by solar radiation, lightning, and heat from its deep-down molten core.  And Just like a battery in a car keeps the motor running and the wheels turning, so too, do the rhythmic pulsations of natural energy flowing through and emanating from the surface of the Earth keep the biological machinery of global life running in rhythm and balance – for everything that lives on the land or in the sea.”

- From the book Earthing – The most important health discovery ever? by Clinton Ober, Stephen Sinatra, and Martin Zucker.

We have become a society of people who are focused from the neck up. Stuck in our heads, we are so often completely disconnected from the power and wisdom of the Earth, our body, and especially our hearts. This disconnect, created by high-tech systems and skewed priorities, leads us to think about the world, and to analyze and manipulate it, rather than be in it. Furthermore, this habitual way of being creates an experience of separation, so that we feel, “I am here, and the world is out there.” And since the world is “out there separate from me,” then we try to analyze it, understand it, and judge it. We try to control and manipulate it. All this we do to ensure our survival, satisfy our needs, minimize our suffering, and maximize our pleasurable experiences. How tiring!

We have been conditioned out of our bodies, away from the Earth, and into our heads, where we have been stuck, wondering why life is not more rich. We sense life could be more beautiful and yet cannot think our way into making it so. While thinking as a process certainly can be valuable, thinking about life is the booby prize!

As one part of my proprietary Major Good Mojo System I include a variety of powerful processes to reconnect my clients with the elements they are made of:  Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Right now we are talking about the Earth element.  In our world of rational, logical, thinking and doing, Earthing could be seen as a radical, even revolutionary action!  Earthing requires no thinking –  you just put your bare feet on the earth and sit there for 30 minutes or more.  Beyond that, you do not have to “do” anything else – you don’t have to manipulate anything.  Mother Nature, Mother Earth (and the wisdom of your body) takes care of everything else.  Isn’t that miraculous?  This is an EXPERIENCE, an experience of becoming connected to your Source, of becoming integrated back into the world from which you come.  It’s an experience of coming home.

Your Major Good Mojo Assignment:

This is real simple folks: take off your shoes and go connect with your Mother! Mother Earth!  Bare earth and dirt is best.  Find a place outside where you can clear a small patch of earth where you can place your bare feet in direct contact – you can use a lawn or patio chair if you like.  Slightly damp or moist earth provides the best connection; you can add water if needed.  Just put your feet there and sit for 30 minutes or more. See if you can FEEL the electron exchange and balancing taking place throughout your body. Like many of the most powerful things in life, it’s very subtle, but if you consciously direct your attention inward, you literally can feel it!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Welcome!

Is your life very full, but not very full-filling?
Does happiness seem like a whole lot of hard work?
Are you running the rat race, but tired of running, racing, and being a rat?

If you said “yes” to any of these questions, you’ve come to the right place! My name is Roger Kenneth Marsh and I invite you into a whole new world: a world where life is fulfilling, happiness is natural, and you’re no longer running, racing, or being a rat.

You see, a number of years ago I would’ve said “yes” to all these questions too, and “yes” to this one as well: “Do you sense there is something more to your life, that this isn’t it, and that there has got to be a better way?”

At that point in my life I had done everything I was supposed to do and was very “successful” from a societal perspective. However something, something terribly important, was missing, and I had no idea what it was. What I did know was that it wasn’t going to be found in “more of the same.” It wasn’t going to be found in more money, more stuff, even more relationships or more free time. I had it all and it wasn’t enough. That feeling, that gnawing sense of anxiety, that suffering, and that depression, sent me on a journey.

Perhaps you are at this point in your life too? You’re no longer satisfied with the “status quo,” and you know if this is all life is about, perhaps you’d rather not live it. Some call this a mid-life crisis. I had mine at age 25, more than 15 years ago, and I’m glad I did! Breakdowns lead to breakthroughs, and there is truly opportunity in every crisis! And I’m here to help you.

I’m a born teacher/coach and facilitator. I come from a line of them as a matter of fact. I’m here to help you break through into that new life you sense and know is possible for you. The fact that you’ve come to this site and are reading these words is a good sign. You’re looking for solutions and they’re starting to show up.

Don’t feel bad that you haven’t created the fulfillment in life you think you should have by now – you’ve done the best you can given what this society and system is able to provide you. This is how the “status quo” feels – this is how it feels to “succeed” in this model. Clearly there is more to “success” than we’ve been taught! Playing by the rules in this society and being a “good little boy or girl” and doing what you are told or expected to do, will only get you so far. Because of the way we are raised in this society, here are some of the mistakes I suspect you may be making (I know, because I did them too):

* You’re too busy doing too many things
* You care what others think about you
* You’re afraid to make mistakes
* You underestimate your ability to change your life
* You let circumstances dictate your actions
* You believe your own thoughts
* You focus too much on worries, concerns, and fears
* You confuse feelings and emotions for wisdom and guidance
* You’re thinking too much
* You do not trust yourself, others, or the world (aka – you have to do it all yourself)

And that’s just a few of the mistakes you might be making – there are lots more. Remember, it’s not your fault! This is “normal” and is simply the result of the society we were raised and live in.

The fact that you are experiencing frustration, dissatisfaction, worry, concern, or even despair, is a good sign. You see you are different from everyone else. There really is something special about you. And you must heed that call. I’ve created The Major Good Mojo System™ for people like you, to bring this specialness in you to life!

To find out if I and Major Good Mojo are for you, I invite you to order my TOTALLY FREE (yes, I even pay for the shipping) Audio CD “Major Good Mojo – 3 Keys They Don’t Teach You In School” CLICK HERE

And then read some of the SUCCESS STORIES from past clients of mine as well as the Frequently Asked Questions about me and The Major Good Mojo System. You can even send me an email if you have some questions. Do whatever it takes for you to take action and move yourself forward in your life. I’m here for you. And your Major Good Mojo is waiting!

Namaste & Blessings,
Roger
